Hello everyone!

In this article, we will explore Turkey's local CAD software, H3GEN. Since I have never used this software before, this review is as much a discovery for me as it is for you. My aim is to share my first impressions transparently, providing you with sincere and detailed insights about H3GEN.

What is H3GEN?

H3GEN is a CAD software developed entirely by Turkish engineers using 100% local resources. Designed for cartography and engineering projects, it boasts a structure similar to AutoCAD and Civil3D. H3GEN ensures seamless integration with Civil3D through dynamic project compatibility and supports the LandXML format for easy data exchange.

Why Did H3GEN Capture My Attention?

Recently, I've come across numerous posts about H3GEN on social media platforms. Its status as a local software with Turkish language support piqued my interest. Consequently, I requested a demo and decided to conduct this review. I hope this series answers your questions about H3GEN and proves beneficial to you.

Pre-Installation Review

I delved into detailed information about the software through its official website. Here are some key points that caught my eye:

  • 100% Local and Experienced Team: The software is developed entirely with local resources by an experienced team.

  • Compatibility with Civil3D: It offers dynamic project compatibility with Civil3D, facilitating easy project transitions.

  • LandXML Support: Supports LandXML format for flexible data exchange.

  • Turkish Language Support: Being originally coded in Turkish makes the usage and learning process more straightforward.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Before installation, I reviewed the FAQ section and found the following noteworthy:

  • Technical Support: The software provides technical support and can be reached through various communication channels.

  • Customization: New features can be added, and custom software solutions can be developed for organizations.

  • Compatibility: Compatible with all Windows-based computers. While it can run on MacOS via virtualization, this isn't always the ideal solution.

  • Data Formats: Supports DXF, DWG, and LandXML formats.

  • Education and Learning: Includes help documentation within the software and offers training services.

Installation Process

The installation process is quite simple and user-friendly:

  1. Selecting Installation Language: We start by choosing the language for the installation interface. Note that this sets the language of the installation screens, not the software itself.

  2. License Agreement: Proceed by accepting the license agreement.

  3. Creating Desktop Shortcut: Optionally, you can create a desktop shortcut.

  4. Installation Directory: Currently, there's no option to change the installation directory, but adding this feature in the future could be beneficial.

  5. License Activation: After completing the installation, you'll need to enter your personal information to initiate the license activation process.

My Initial Impressions

  • User-Friendly Interface: Although I haven't fully used the software yet, I believe the Turkish language support and familiar CAD structure will make it easy to use.

  • Dynamic Project Management: Storing project, cross-section, and route files within a single CAD file enhances efficiency.

  • Compatibility and Flexibility: You can continue working on your Civil3D projects and exchange data using LandXML.

  • Additional Modules:
    • KübajGEN: Allows you to perform volume calculations, create cross-sections, and conduct surface modeling.

    • Hidrogen: Facilitates hydrology-related tasks like basin analysis and waterway calculations.

    • Logen: Speeds up reporting processes in drilling projects.

A Software Open to Development

The company emphasizes that the software is continuously being developed, with new features to be added. Their openness to user feedback and willingness to consider requests is a positive sign for the future of H3GEN.

Conclusion and Expectations

At first glance, H3GEN appears to have significant potential as a local alternative in the cartography and engineering sectors. Its Turkish language support and compatibility with Civil3D make it an attractive option.

In my next review, I'll delve deeper into the software's functionalities and features once the license activation is complete. If you have any questions or experiences with H3GEN, feel free to share them in the comments.

Thank you for reading! See you in future articles.
